Buying personal care on special
Personal care covers the everyday items you replace on a schedule rather than a whim: shampoo and conditioner, soap and body wash, razors and blades, oral care, and feminine hygiene. Because demand is steady, supermarkets use half price promotions here to move shoppers between brands rather than to clear stock, which means the same products come back on special every couple of months.
Razor blades and electric toothbrush heads are the standouts. Both are expensive per unit and both keep indefinitely, so buying a year of blades at half price is one of the few grocery decisions that reliably saves real money. Bulky, cheap items like a single bar of soap are less worth the trip. Check the unit price on multi-packs — a half price 4-pack is not always cheaper per item than a full price 12-pack.
