Privacy policy
This policy explains what information HalfPrice AU (https://mail.halfpriceau.com/) collects when you visit the site, why we collect it, who else can see it, and what you can do about it. It applies to this website only.
The short version. We do not ask you to create an account and we do not ask for your name, address or payment details. We keep standard server logs, we may use analytics to count visits, and we show advertising supplied by third parties — those advertising partners set their own cookies. You can turn off personalised advertising using the links in section 5.
1. Who we are
HalfPrice AU is an independent website operated from Australia. It publishes a list of half price grocery specials drawn from publicly available Coles and Woolworths promotional information. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting for either retailer.

2. Information we collect
Information you give us
The only information you actively give us is what you type into the search box, and anything you choose to put in an email to us. Search terms are processed to return results; they are not tied to an identity and we do not build a profile from them.
Information collected automatically
Like nearly all websites, our hosting server records a log entry for each request. A log entry typically contains:
- your IP address;
- the date and time of the request;
- the page or file requested and the HTTP response code;
- the referring page, if you arrived from a link;
- your browser and operating system as reported in the user-agent string.
These logs are used to keep the site running, to diagnose faults and to detect abuse such as automated scraping. They are not used to identify individual visitors.
Information we do not collect
We do not collect names, postal addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, payment card details or government identifiers. There are no user accounts on this site. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to store. This site uses cookies and local browser storage in three ways:
- Necessary. A small amount of local storage remembers that you have dismissed the cookie notice, so it is not shown on every page. This never leaves your browser.
- Analytics. If analytics is enabled, it sets cookies that let us count visits and see which pages are used. This tells us how many people read a page, not who they are.
- Advertising. Our advertising partners set cookies to select and measure the ads you see. See section 5.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking them will not stop the deal listings from working, though some parts of the page may behave differently.
4. Analytics
We may use Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic patterns — how many people visit, which pages they read, and roughly where in the world they are. Where Google Analytics is in use, IP anonymisation is enabled. Google processes this data as described in Google's privacy policy. You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting data by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
5. Advertising
This site is funded by advertising. We work with third-party advertising vendors, including Google, to display ads.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google My Ad Center or Google Ads Settings.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising from many other vendors at aboutads.info/choices, the NAI opt-out page or Your Online Choices.
- Third-party vendors and ad networks may also serve ads on this site and may use cookies or web beacons of their own. We do not control those cookies, and their use is governed by each vendor's own privacy policy.
Opting out of personalised advertising does not remove advertising from the site; it means the ads you see are less likely to be based on your browsing history.
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we present a consent choice before non-essential cookies are set for advertising purposes, and your choice is passed to our advertising partners.
6. Links to other websites
Every deal on this site links out to the retailer's own website — coles.com.au or woolworths.com.au. Once you follow one of those links you are on a site we do not operate, and this policy no longer applies. Those retailers publish their own privacy policies, and we recommend reading them if you shop or create an account there.
We do not pass any information about you to those retailers when you follow a link, beyond what your browser ordinarily sends (such as the referring page).
7. How long we keep information
Server logs are retained for a limited period — typically no more than 12 months — and are then deleted or overwritten by our hosting provider. Analytics data is retained according to the retention setting configured in the analytics platform. Emails you send us are kept for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry.
8. Security
The site is served over HTTPS, so traffic between your browser and our server is encrypted. No system is perfectly secure, but because we do not hold accounts, payment details or personal profiles, the amount of information exposed by any incident on our side is minimal.
9. Your rights
Australia. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). You may ask what personal information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or complain about how we have handled it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
European Economic Area and United Kingdom. Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. Our lawful bases are legitimate interests (keeping the site running and secure) and consent (analytics and advertising cookies, where consent is required). You may withdraw consent at any time.
California. We do not sell personal information as that term is defined in the CCPA. You may request details of the categories of information collected, and request deletion.

10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site changes or as legal requirements change. The revision date at the top of the page always reflects the current version. Material changes will be noted on this page.
